Importance of Indian blind beliefs & superstitions

India is a country of spirituality and as well as superstitions. There are many deems on God as well as blind believes. No doubt God is omnipresent and omnipotent that is believed by every religion throughout the world. What about blind beliefs and superstitions that people still follow in these modern computer days? Many people never disclose their common habits due to clumsiness; however they do and follow the blind faiths and superstitions in their home. Religious blind beliefs in India: 


  • As Hindus offer food, coconut, donations, incense sticks, candles; other religions have some similar blind beliefs like donation, offering coverlets, candles,  incense sticks, and many more habits.


Numerology is too a kind of superstition in India: 


  • Numbers like 1, 5, 10, 11, 21, 51, 101, 108, 501, 1001, 1008 etc considered as lucky numbers. 
  • Number 13 and 3 considered as an auspicious number. 
  • 786 is very lucky number for Muslims. 
  • Apart from this many people have their own lucky numbers according to their birth date, rashi, astrology, etc.


Blind beliefs as per direction: 


  • It is believed that sleeping head facing towards north and west is inauspicious. 
  • All rituals should be done by east facing. 
  • Houses must be built or preferred to build in east or north direction. 
  • Eating in left hand is inauspicious
  • Using right hand for all good works is auspicious


Blind beliefs related to days: 


  • Saturday is believed as inauspicious for most of the people in India. 
  • They avoid doing all the important works including cutting nails, shave cuts, buying any important product, etc. 
  • Similarly doing any important works in eclipses is very inauspicious.


Blind beliefs related to animals: 


  • Cow is a holistic animal for Hindus. 
  • They believe there are 33 crore gods in a cow. 
  • Other than cow, elephant, snake, mongoose, jackal are too auspicious as per Hinduism. 
  • Owl is considered as inauspicious bird. 
  • Falling lizard on body have different beliefs that depends upon the part of body where it falls. 


More blind beliefs and superstitions in India are:


  • One shouldn’t take or give salt and chilli (inauspicious)
  • Asking a person from back while going out from home (inauspicious)
  • Breaking mirror is a bad sign
  • Watching broken mirror is too inauspicious
  • Sweeping at night is inauspicious.
  • Keeping lemon wrath in front of house, vehicle, shops, and business places is auspicious
  • Eating curd with sugar or jaggery while going outside is auspicious
  • Cawing of crows indicates arrival of some guests or relatives on that day
